Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup pomegranate juice
  • 1 orange, peel and juice
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1 star anise
  • 1/2-inch piece of ginger, sliced
  • 5 oz. Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Pomegranate arils, for garnish
  • Orange slice, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine pomegranate juice, orange juice, honey, spices, and ginger. Bring to a simmer and cook for 8-10 minutes until the honey dissolves and the spices release their flavors.
  2. Reduce the heat to low, add the orange peel and wine, stir, cover, and allow to simmer for at least 15 minutes. Be careful not to let the mixture boil.
  3. Ladle the warm spiced mulled wine into a mug and garnish with fresh orange slices, a cinnamon stick, and a few pomegranate arils.
