Ingredients

  • 2 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 oz cream of coconut
  • 2 oz unsweetened coconut milk
  • 2 oz evaporated milk
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/2 vanilla bean, split and scraped or 1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 small cinnamon stick
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • 3 oz rum

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk, cream of coconut, unsweetened coconut milk, evaporated milk, a pinch of salt, and nutmeg (if using). Add the vanilla bean or extract and cinnamon stick.
  2. Place the mixture over medium-low heat and stir until well combined and just starting to simmer. Once it simmers, remove from heat, cover, and let the ingredients steep for 30-45 minutes.
  3. After steeping, remove the cinnamon stick and vanilla bean. Stir in the rum, starting with 2 oz and adjusting to taste.
  4. Pour the coquito into a serving container and refrigerate for at least 2 hours until well chilled. Serve chilled neat or over ice. Enjoy responsibly!
