Ingredients
- 2 oz bourbon
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1/2 tbsp turbinado sugar
- 6 to 9 dashes bitters
- 1/4 cup hot water
- Ice
Instructions
- Place the bourbon in a freezer-safe, resealable plastic container.
- In a small saucepot over medium heat, melt the butter until it browns, stirring constantly for about 5 minutes.
- Immediately whisk the browned butter into the bourbon, then cover and freeze until the butter solidifies on top, at least 1 hour or overnight.
- Remove the solidified butter from the bourbon and strain the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer to remove any remaining butter droplets.
- Dissolve the turbinado sugar in 1/2 cup hot water.
- Combine the brown-buttered bourbon with the sugar syrup and bitters.
- Serve the cocktail on the rocks in a tumbler, or stir with ice and strain into a cocktail glass.
