Ingredients
- 2 lemongrass stalks
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 oz Kentucky bourbon
- 5 large Thai basil leaves
- 2 tbsp lemongrass syrup
- 1 tbsp cold water
- crushed ice
- additional Thai basil for garnish
Instructions
- Chop lemongrass into small 1-inch pieces for the syrup.
- In a small pot, bring water, sugar, and chopped lemongrass to a boil, then let it simmer for about 20 minutes until it thickens into a syrup.
- In a highball glass, muddle Thai basil leaves in cold water and lemongrass syrup.
- Stir in the bourbon.
- Add crushed ice and garnish with additional Thai basil sprigs.
