Ingredients

  • 2 lemongrass stalks
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 oz Kentucky bourbon
  • 5 large Thai basil leaves
  • 2 tbsp lemongrass syrup
  • 1 tbsp cold water
  • crushed ice
  • additional Thai basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. Chop lemongrass into small 1-inch pieces for the syrup.
  2. In a small pot, bring water, sugar, and chopped lemongrass to a boil, then let it simmer for about 20 minutes until it thickens into a syrup.
  3. In a highball glass, muddle Thai basil leaves in cold water and lemongrass syrup.
  4. Stir in the bourbon.
  5. Add crushed ice and garnish with additional Thai basil sprigs.
