Tamarind Mint Bourbon Smash

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon tamarind paste
- 1 lime, cut into wedges
- Sugar, for rimming the glass
- 3 ounces bourbon
- 4 mint leaves
- 1 ounce tamarind simple syrup
- For garnish: a lime wheel and a mint sprig
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine the brown sugar and water. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally, and let it simmer for a minute or two until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat, and stir in the tamarind paste. Allow the tamarind simple syrup to cool completely in the refrigerator.
- Prepare the cocktail glass by running a lime wedge around the rim and then dipping it in sugar to coat the rim.
- Squeeze the remaining lime wedges into the glass of a cocktail shaker.
