Ingredients

  • 2 oz strawberries, sliced
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tbsp tequila
  • 1/2 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 cup grapefruit soda
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine the sliced strawberries, water, and granulated sugar.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium-high heat until it comes to a boil.
  3. Reduce the heat to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes until the liquid turns dark red.
  4. Strain the strawberry syrup into a bowl, avoiding pressing down on the strawberries to keep the liquid clear.
  5. Allow the syrup to cool.
  6. In a cocktail shaker filled halfway with ice, combine the tequila, lime juice, and 1/4 cup of the prepared strawberry syrup.
  7. Shake the mixture well, then strain it evenly into a highball glass filled with ice.
