Ingredients

  • 2 jalapeños, halved
  • Zest of 1 grapefruit
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 1/2 ounces silver tequila
  • 1/2 ounce mezcal
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • 2 ounces grapefruit juice
  • 1/2 ounce jalapeño-infused simple syrup (see ingredient list above)
  • 1/2 ounce grapefruit liqueur or Triple Sec
  • Ice, for serving

Instructions

  1. To make the jalapeño-infused simple syrup, combine jalapeño, grapefruit zest, sugar, and water in a small saucepan. Simmer until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature. Strain into a clean glass jar. This syrup can be refrigerated for up to 2 weeks in an airtight container.
  3. To make the cocktail, combine all the ingredients in a shaker with ice.
  4. Shake well and double strain into a glass filled with ice.
