Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Strong coffee (freshly brewed using 0.5 oz ground coffee per 2.5 fl oz)
- 1 cup Milk (full fat)
- 1 oz Dark chocolate (with 70% cocoa solids)
- 2 teaspoons Honey
- 1/4 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
- Pinch of Ground nutmeg
- Pinch of Ground allspice
- 3/8 teaspoon Ancho chili powder (or other chili powder of your choice)
- Pinch of salt
- Whipped cream
- Grated chocolate
- Ancho chili powder
- Ground cinnamon or a cinnamon stick
Instructions
- Warm the milk without boiling it, then stir in the honey, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and the chili powder. Let it infuse for 15 minutes.
- Strain the infused milk and return it to a clean pan.
- Chop the chocolate and add it to the pan with a pinch of salt. Melt the chocolate over low heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat when the temperature reaches 70C/158F.
- Brew the coffee and pour it into the pan, stirring to combine.
- Optionally, froth the spicy mocha with a steam wand, milk foamer, or stick blender.
- Pour the spicy mocha into a warmed mug or coffee glass.
- Top with whipped cream, grated chocolate, a sprinkle of ancho chili powder, and a dash of ground cinnamon or add a cinnamon stick for garnish. Serve immediately.
