Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon turbinado (washed raw) sugar
- 1 1/2 tablespoons cranberry juice, divided
- 1/2 tablespoon fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1/2 teaspoon chopped seeded jalapeno pepper
- Ice cubes
- 3 oz vodka
- Fresh mint leaves and additional cranberries for garnish
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine the sugar, 1/2 tablespoon cranberry juice, cranberries, and jalapeno. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 3 minutes until the sugar is dissolved.
- Remove from heat and let it stand for 20 minutes. Then strain, discarding cranberries and jalapeno.
- Cover and refrigerate the syrup for at least 2 hours until chilled.
- For each serving, fill a mixing glass or tumbler three-fourths full with ice. Add vodka, cranberry juice, and cranberry syrup. Stir until condensation forms on the outside of the glass.
- Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and repeat for additional servings. Garnish with mint and cranberries if desired.
