Spiced Cider Ale
A warm and fragrant spiced cider ale, perfect for cozy gatherings during the festive season.
Ingredients
- 12 oz pale ale
- 1 cup apple cider
- 2 tbsp packed light brown sugar
- Zest from 1 lemon
- Juice from 2 lemons
- 1/2 inch piece peeled ginger root, cut into 4 slices
- 2 allspice berries
- 1 whole clove
- 1 cinnamon stick, plus extra for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large nonreactive pot over low to medium-low heat, combine the ale, cider, brown sugar, lemon zest and juice, ginger, allspice, cloves, and cinnamon sticks. Avoid boiling the mixture.
- Cook for approximately 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is fragrant and thoroughly heated through.
- Strain the liquid, removing the solids.
- Pour into individual mugs and garnish with a cinnamon stick, if desired.
