Sparkling Strawberry Citrus Sangria

Sparkling Strawberry Citrus Sangria
A light and fruity sangria made with Spanish Cava, fresh citrus fruits, and a homemade strawberry syrup. Perfect for brunch or outdoor gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup sliced ripe strawberries
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 lemon slices
- 2 orange slices
- 2 tbsp strawberry syrup along with reserved strawberries from syrup
- 1 oz Cointreau
- 2 fresh strawberries, sliced, for garnish
- 5 oz cava or other dry sparkling wine
- Ice
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine sliced strawberries, water, and sugar. Heat over high heat until boiling, stirring to dissolve sugar.
- Reduce to a simmer and continue to cook for about 10 minutes until the syrup is pink and the berries are soft.
- Remove from heat and let cool, then strain through a fine mesh strainer. Reserve the strawberries for the sangria. The strawberry syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- In a pitcher, add the lemon slices, orange slices, and reserved strawberries from the syrup.
- Add the strawberry syrup and Cointreau and muddle the ingredients together.
- Pour in the cava and stir gently to combine.
- Serve immediately by pouring into glasses garnished with a slice of lemon, a slice of orange, sliced strawberries, and ice.
