Ingredients

  • 2-3 slices ripe strawberries
  • 2-3 slices lemon
  • 2-3 slices orange
  • 1 1/2 oz strawberry syrup
  • 1/2 oz Cointreau
  • 1-2 fresh strawberries, sliced, for garnish
  • 5 oz cava or other dry sparkling wine
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine sliced ripe strawberries, water, and sugar. Heat over high heat until boiling, stirring to dissolve sugar.
  2. Reduce to a simmer and continue to cook for about 10 minutes, until the syrup is pink and the berries are soft. Remove from heat and let cool. Strain through a fine mesh strainer. Reserve strawberries for the sangria.
  3. In a pitcher, add sliced lemon, sliced orange, and the reserved strawberries from the syrup. Add strawberry syrup and Cointreau, then muddle the ingredients together.
  4. Pour in the cava and stir gently.
  5. Serve immediately by pouring the sangria into glasses garnished with a slice of lemon, a slice of orange, sliced strawberries, and ice.
