Ingredients

  • 2 oz good Canadian rye whiskey
  • 2 oz freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1/2 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup
  • 2-inch piece of orange peel (just the outer skin, not the white part of the peel)

Instructions

  1. Use a potato peeler or sharp knife to peel a 2-inch strip from the outside of an orange.
  2. Pinch the peel to release the oils and drop it into an old-fashioned glass.
  3. Take a rock glass half-filled with ice.
  4. Measure out the whisky and pour it over the ice.
  5. Measure out the fresh orange juice, lemon juice, and simple syrup and pour them into the glass.
  6. Stir gently to mix and enjoy! Alternatively, you can dry shake and pour over ice or add ice and shake too.
