Ingredients

  • 2 navel oranges, halved
  • 3 oz añejo tequila
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice (from about 1/3 of a lime)
  • Beechwood Smoked Sea Salt for the glass rim
  • 1 lime, cut into 1 wheel and grilled for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Grill the orange halves, cut side down, until well charred, about 10 minutes.
  3. Let the grilled oranges cool for about 8 minutes, then squeeze the juice from them. Strain the juice to remove the pulp, resulting in about 1 1/2 cups of juice.
  4. In a pitcher, combine the grilled orange juice, tequila, and fresh lime juice.
  5. Rub the rim of a rock glass with a lime, then dip the glass into the smoked sea salt.
  6. Add ice to the glass.
  7. Pour the margarita mixture into the glass and garnish with the grilled lime wheel.
