Smashed Berry Rhubarb Spritz

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup mixed berries
  • a few mint leaves
  • 2 tablespoons simple syrup
  • 2 oz white rye
  • a couple of drops rhubarb bitters
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes
  • 1/2 cup soda water

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine water and sugar to make simple syrup. Boil until sugar is dissolved, then let it cool.
  2. Divide the mixed berries into a tall glass or mason jar and smash them with a spoon.
  3. Add mint leaves and smash them in with the berries.
  4. Pour 2 tablespoons of simple syrup into the glass.
  5. Add 2 oz of white rye to the glass.
  6. Add a couple of drops of rhubarb bitters.
  7. Add ice cubes and soda water.
  8. Stir and garnish with mint leaves.
