Ingredients

  • 2 oz strawberries, sliced
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/8 cup tequila
  • 1/2 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 cup grapefruit soda

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine the sliced strawberries, water, and sugar. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  2. Reduce the heat to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes until the liquid becomes dark red.
  3. Strain the syrup into a bowl, being careful not to press the strawberries to avoid clouding the liquid.
  4. Let the syrup cool down.
  5. In a cocktail shaker filled halfway with ice, combine tequila, lime juice, and 1/4 cup of the strawberry syrup.
  6. Shake well, then strain the mixture into a highball glass with ice.
  7. Top the glass with grapefruit soda and garnish with a strawberry and lime slice.
