A warm and festive non-alcoholic cranberry and citrus drink spiced with cinnamon and ginger.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 orange
  • 1 1/2 cups cranberry juice
  • 1/2 inch cinnamon stick
  • 1/4 inch piece fresh ginger, peeled and sliced lengthwise
  • Sugar, to taste

Instructions

  1. Using a vegetable peeler or a sharp knife, remove a 3-inch-long strip of peel from the orange; set aside.
  2. Juice the orange and strain out pulp.
  3. In a small pot, combine orange juice, reserved orange peel, cranberry juice, cinnamon stick, and ginger.
  4. Taste, and add sugar if desired.
  5. Heat over medium-high heat until simmering.
  6. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes.
  7. Strain the mixture and discard solids.
  8. Serve hot.
