Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 6 whole allspice berries
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 lemon slice
  • 1 orange slice
  • 1 1/2 cups raspberry-cranberry drink
  • 3/4 cup dry red wine

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine water, sugar, cloves, allspice, cinnamon stick, lemon slice, and orange slice. Mix well and bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  2. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. Strain the syrup and allow it to cool slightly. Refrigerate the syrup for at least 3 hours or until serving time.
  4. When ready to serve, place half of the prepared syrup (about 1 1/4 cups) in each of 2 large saucepans.
  5. Add raspberry-cranberry drink to one saucepan and wine to the other.
  6. Simmer each over low heat until thoroughly heated.
  7. Serve hot with cinnamon sticks and citrus twists if desired.
