Ingredients
- 3/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 6 whole cloves
- 6 whole allspice berries
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 lemon slice
- 1 orange slice
- 1 1/2 cups raspberry-cranberry drink
- 3/4 cup dry red wine
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine water, sugar, cloves, allspice, cinnamon stick, lemon slice, and orange slice. Mix well and bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Strain the syrup and allow it to cool slightly. Refrigerate the syrup for at least 3 hours or until serving time.
- When ready to serve, place half of the prepared syrup (about 1 1/4 cups) in each of 2 large saucepans.
- Add raspberry-cranberry drink to one saucepan and wine to the other.
- Simmer each over low heat until thoroughly heated.
- Serve hot with cinnamon sticks and citrus twists if desired.
