Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 oz. rum
  • 1/2 oz. Campari
  • 1/2 oz. Averna
  • 3/4 oz. fresh lime juice
  • 3/4 oz. spiced syrup (see recipe below)
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • For Spiced Syrup:
  • 4 cups water
  • 20 allspice berries
  • 10 whole cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 cups sugar

Instructions

  1. To make spiced syrup, combine water, allspice berries, cloves, and cinnamon stick in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat and let simmer for 20 minutes.
  3. Slowly stir in 2 cups of sugar until completely dissolved.
  4. Add the remaining 2 cups of sugar, stir to dissolve, then remove from heat and let cool.
  5. Strain the syrup into a bottle and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
  6. For the cocktail, combine all the ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake to chill.
  7. Strain into a coupe glass.
