Pear Brandy Spiced White Wine Delight

Ingredients
- 6 oz dry or off-dry white wine (preferably Riesling or Grüner Veltliner)
- 1 star anise
- 2 slices fresh ginger (1/4-inch thick each)
- 3 green cardamom pods
- 3 whole cloves
- 1 to 1 1/2 tablespoons honey
- 1 oz pear brandy (Poire William)
- 1 Asian pear slice
Instructions
- In a medium, heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the white wine, star anise, ginger, cardamom, cloves, and honey. Heat over medium heat until it just begins to simmer, stirring occasionally.
- Turn off the heat and let the wine mull for at least 15 to 20 minutes. Taste the wine and adjust the sweetness by adding more honey if desired.
- Gently reheat the wine until it starts to steam, then turn off the heat and stir in the pear brandy.
- Divide the mulled wine among mugs or heatproof glasses, adding a few of the spices to each glass if desired. Garnish with a slice of Asian pear. Enjoy!
