Ingredients
- 1/2 stick unsalted butter
- 3 tbsp light brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- a pinch of ground nutmeg
- a pinch of ground allspice
- a pinch of ground cloves
- 1 tbsp pure maple syrup
- 1.50 oz spiced or dark rum
- 1.50 tbsp butter batter
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1 cinnamon stick
- ground nutmeg (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the butter batter by creaming together the butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, and maple syrup. Roll into a log and refrigerate.
- In a heat-proof glass or mug, add the maple syrup, spiced rum, and a portion of the butter batter.
- Fill halfway with boiling water and stir vigorously with the cinnamon stick to melt the butter and dissolve the sugars.
- Top with more boiling water and stir.
- Sprinkle with freshly grated nutmeg and enjoy the comforting warmth of Hot Cinnamon Buttered Rum.
