Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup ripe, sweet, and preferably yellow plums, pitted and cut into chunks
  • 1-2 tablespoons organic cane sugar, depending on taste and plum tartness
  • 6 oz dry white wine, such as Riesling or Riesling Sylvaner
  • 1/2 - 1 oz crème de cassis
  • 1 sprig of lavender or mint, for garnish
  • Crushed ice, if desired

Instructions

  1. Cut the ripe yellow plums into chunks and combine them with sugar in a pitcher or bowl. Let them sit for about 30 minutes.
  2. Pour the dry white wine over the plums and sugar.
  3. Cover and chill the mixture overnight to allow the fruit to absorb the alcohol.
  4. The next day, ladle the chilled drink over crushed ice in wide-brimmed wine glasses, ensuring each drink has some fruit.
  5. Add the desired amount of crème de cassis to each drink, creating a lovely pale plum color or a vibrant purple hue.
  6. Garnish each drink with a sprig of fresh lavender or mint.
