Ingredients
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup whole milk
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
- 1/8 tsp cinnamon
- Pinch of allspice and cloves
- 2 tbsp bourbon
- Whipped cream (for topping)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the egg yolk and 2 tablespoons of sugar until light.
- In a large saucepan, heat the milk, cream, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and the spices over medium heat until steaming, about 5 minutes. Then, remove the saucepan from the heat.
- While whisking the egg yolk, slowly add some of the steaming milk to the egg mixture. Begin by adding the milk in drops, then gradually pour it in a thin stream while whisking constantly.
- Once about 1 cup of milk is added to the eggs, pour the egg mixture back into the saucepan while whisking continuously.
- Stir in the bourbon and cook on low heat until the eggnog is hot and thick, whisking constantly for about 5 minutes.
- Pour a small amount of the eggnog into a glass, top with whipped cream, and sprinkle with cinnamon.
