Ingredients
- 3.50 oz strong black coffee or espresso, or use instant espresso powder
- 1.50 oz golden caster sugar
- 1.50 oz balsamic vinegar
- ice
- 1 oz vodka
- 1.75 oz strong black coffee or espresso, or use instant espresso powder
- 2 coffee beans
- 1 cardamom pod
Instructions
- Begin by making the coffee shrub. Combine the coffee or espresso with the sugar in a jug, stirring until the sugar is dissolved. Allow the mixture to cool completely before adding the balsamic vinegar. Transfer the shrub to the fridge and chill until needed, preferably making it a day ahead.
- Next, prepare the cocktail by placing a martini or coupe glass in the fridge to chill.
- Half-fill a cocktail shaker with ice, then add the 1.75 oz of the coffee shrub, vodka, and coffee or espresso. Shake vigorously until the outside of the shaker feels cold.
- Strain the cocktail into the chilled glass.
- Garnish each glass with two coffee beans and a cardamom pod.
