Ingredients

  • 3.50 oz strong black coffee or espresso, or use instant espresso powder
  • 2 tbsp golden caster sugar
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • ice
  • 1 oz vodka
  • 1.75 oz strong black coffee or espresso, or use instant espresso powder
  • 4 coffee beans
  • 2 cardamom pods

Instructions

  1. Start by making the coffee shrub. Mix the coffee or espresso with the sugar, stir until dissolved, and let it cool completely. Then, add the balsamic vinegar and chill the mixture in the fridge until needed. This can be prepared up to a day ahead.
  2. Before making the cocktail, chill two martini or small coupe glasses in the fridge.
  3. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Then add 1.75 oz of the coffee shrub, the vodka, and coffee or espresso. Shake vigorously until the shaker feels cold on the outside.
  4. Strain the mixture into the chilled glasses, and top each with two coffee beans and a cardamom pod.
