Ingredients

  • 2 oz Jameson Irish whiskey
  • 2 tsp demerara or brown sugar
  • 6 oz freshly brewed hot coffee
  • 2 tbsp lightly whipped heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Warm a stemmed glass coffee mug by pouring boiling water into it, swirling, and then discarding the water.
  2. Pour the Jameson whiskey into the warmed glass.
  3. Add the sugar to the glass.
  4. Pour the hot coffee into the glass, leaving about an inch of space from the rim.
  5. Stir until the sugar has dissolved completely.
  6. Hold a spoon upside-down just above the coffee and gently pour the whipped cream over the back of the spoon to create a layer of cream on top of the coffee.
  7. Optional: Garnish with a trimmed vanilla pod, cinnamon stick, or a grating of fresh nutmeg.
  8. Serve the coffee on a plate with no spoon, and enjoy drinking it through the layer of cream.
