Ingredients
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1/4 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1 lemon, cut into wedges
- 1/8 orange, sliced into thin rounds
- 2 oz London dry gin
- 1 oz off-dry Sherry (such as Lustau East India Solera)
- 1 mint sprig
- Crushed ice
Instructions
- In a saucepan, bring the sugar and 3/4 cup water to a boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and refrigerate remaining syrup for later use.
- Heat the syrup almost to a boil, then reduce heat to medium. Add cranberries and simmer until they begin to burst, about 2-3 minutes. Let the mixture cool in the syrup.
- In a large pitcher, combine 2 tbsp drained cranberries, 6 tbsp cranberry syrup, lemon wedges, and orange slices. Use a muddler or wooden spoon to vigorously mash the fruit.
- Stir in gin and Sherry, then let the mixture steep for 5 minutes.
- Strain the mixture into a medium pitcher. Fill a glass with crushed ice and pour half of the mixture into a cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously for 10 seconds, then strain into the glass and top with more crushed ice.
- Garnish with a mint sprig and a few cranberries. Repeat to make additional cocktails.
