Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • Dash of salt
  • 1/2 cup fresh cranberries
  • 1 1/3 ounces 80-proof bourbon
  • 3/4 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

Instructions

  1. In a microwave-safe dish, combine water, sugar, and salt. Microwave on HIGH for 3 minutes, then stir until the sugar dissolves.
  2. In a blender, combine the sugar syrup and cranberries, and process until smooth.
  3. Strain the mixture through a sieve lined with a double layer of cheesecloth over a bowl, pressing to extract the liquid. Discard the solids.
  4. Combine the cranberry mixture, bourbon, and lemon juice in a freezer-safe bowl, and stir well.
  5. Freeze the mixture overnight or until partially frozen.
  6. Scrape the mixture with a fork until slushy and serve immediately.
