Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 cinnamon stick (3 inches)
  • Pinch of fine sea salt
  • 1/4 cup 100% pomegranate juice
  • 1.50 tablespoons brandy
  • 1/4 small green Anjou pear, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 small persimmon, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 small orange, quartered and thinly sliced
  • 2-3 slices of lime
  • 1 tablespoon pomegranate arils
  • 1/2 cup Lambrusco
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine sugar, water, and the cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Let it boil for about 5 minutes until the cinnamon flavor infuses the syrup. Remove from heat and let it steep at room temperature for about an hour. Discard the cinnamon stick.
  2. In a large pitcher, whisk together pomegranate juice, brandy, and 1/4 cup of the cinnamon syrup. Adjust the sweetness to taste by adding more cinnamon syrup if desired. Add the pear, persimmon, orange, lime slices, and pomegranate arils. Chill the mixture for at least 4 hours or up to 12 hours to allow the flavors to combine.
  3. Just before serving, stir in the Lambrusco. Pour the sangria with fruit over ice-filled glasses. Top each glass with a splash of additional Lambrusco. Serve immediately.
