Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup water
  • 3 oz cream soda
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/4 stick (2 tbsp) unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp butterscotch syrup, divided
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup spiced rum
  • Whipped cream, for serving
  • Gold sanding sugar, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a small crock-pot, combine water, cream soda, brown sugar, butter, 1 tablespoon of butterscotch syrup, cinnamon stick, vanilla extract, and salt.
  2. Cover and cook on low for 3 to 3 1/2 hours, until warm and butter is melted.
  3. Remove the lid and stir in spiced rum.
  4. Pour the remaining butterscotch syrup onto a shallow plate.
  5. Dip the rim of a mug in the syrup before filling it with the buttered rum mixture.
  6. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with gold sanding sugar.
