Ingredients
- 4 egg yolks
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 ounces 100 proof bourbon
- 1/2 ounce amaretto
- 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream (whipped)
- 1/4 cup half and half
- Optional: additional bourbon to taste
- Garnish: freshly grated nutmeg, cinnamon stick
Instructions
- In a stand mixer, beat the egg yolks for about 5 minutes until they are lightened in texture.
- Gradually add the sugar to the beaten egg yolks and mix until the batter thickens.
- Add the vanilla extract and nutmeg to the mixture.
- Slowly pour in the bourbon and amaretto, adding 1 to 2 tablespoons at a time.
- Transfer the mixture to a glass jar or container and refrigerate for at least 24 hours, or ideally 3 days to a week for the flavors to meld.
- Gently fold in the whipped cream and half and half.
- Store the Blissful Bourbon Nog in the fridge until ready to serve. Garnish each serving with a sprinkle of freshly grated nutmeg and a cinnamon stick.
