Ingredients

  • 4 egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ounces 100 proof bourbon
  • 1/2 ounce amaretto
  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream (whipped)
  • 1/4 cup half and half
  • Optional: additional bourbon to taste
  • Garnish: freshly grated nutmeg, cinnamon stick

Instructions

  1. In a stand mixer, beat the egg yolks for about 5 minutes until they are lightened in texture.
  2. Gradually add the sugar to the beaten egg yolks and mix until the batter thickens.
  3. Add the vanilla extract and nutmeg to the mixture.
  4. Slowly pour in the bourbon and amaretto, adding 1 to 2 tablespoons at a time.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a glass jar or container and refrigerate for at least 24 hours, or ideally 3 days to a week for the flavors to meld.
  6. Gently fold in the whipped cream and half and half.
  7. Store the Blissful Bourbon Nog in the fridge until ready to serve. Garnish each serving with a sprinkle of freshly grated nutmeg and a cinnamon stick.
