A refreshing white grapefruit margarita with a twist of basil, perfect for summer entertaining or Cinco de Mayo parties.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup fresh basil leaves, torn
- 1 1/2 oz clear tequila
- 2-3 teaspoons basil simple syrup
- 3 oz white grapefruit juice
- 2-3 dashes orange bitters
Instructions
- In a small pot, combine sugar, water, and torn basil leaves. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves, bringing it to a low boil.
- Remove the pot from heat and let the syrup cool to room temperature for about 30 minutes.
- Pour the syrup through a strainer to remove the basil leaves, then store it in a small bottle in the refrigerator until ready to use.
- In a glass, add ice, tequila, basil simple syrup, white grapefruit juice, and orange bitters.
- Stir the ingredients well and garnish with fresh basil or a slice of grapefruit.
