Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp loose chai tea
  • 1 (750ml) bottle rye whiskey
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1.50 oz chai-infused rye whiskey
  • 1 oz apple cider
  • 3/4 oz cinnamon simple syrup
  • 1/2 oz lemon juice
  • 1 pinch fresh grated nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Infuse the rye whiskey by mixing loose chai tea leaves into the bottle of rye whiskey and allowing it to sit for several hours before straining out the tea.
  2. Prepare the cinnamon simple syrup by combining a cinnamon stick, sugar, and water in a pot, warming it on the stove until the sugar has dissolved, then refrigerate until cool.
  3. In a cocktail shaker over ice, combine 1.5 oz chai-infused rye whiskey, 1 oz apple cider, 3/4 oz cinnamon simple syrup, and 1/2 oz lemon juice.
  4. Shake the mixture for 10-15 seconds.
  5. Pour the cocktail into a rocks glass over a large ice cube.
  6. Garnish with a pinch of fresh grated nutmeg.
